Pics will have to wait a day or two greggo, driving it around today yeilded a kinda worrying result. On decent acceleration (sub 2k launches) it sounds like something is shifting around in my trunk. Pretty sure my trunk is empty, but going to completely empty out the car tomorrow and see if sound goes away, if not then I will be contanting a transmission shop to give me an inspection on the rear end and tranny, see if I fucked up on the pinion angle or if something is just coming untorqued.

Well the 2jzge is at the machine shop, should hear back from them later this week to let me know what all needs replacing in the engine, and then another week or so for the engine back here. I should have it built within a month, and as long as my GTS comes back from new body shop in a decent time, I can yank out the 7mge and get ready to drop the 2jz in.

Well got some more parts in today, 2jzge clutch fan with waterpump pulley, alternator, power steering pump with res, and afm with the rest of the intake. Also I ordered some more swap parts, JZ to r154 bellhousing, stainless steel clutch line, SS PS line, ARP flywheel bolts, bellhousing bolts (with starter bolts) and a new set of valve cover gaskets with grommets for the old 7m for the wifey.

Gonna wait for the rear bearings to come in for the GTS and take the axles and my flywheel to a machine shop to get the flywheel resurfaced and the bearings pressed on the 86 axles. May also take the wife's oil pan and pickup there to get cleaned, since the tardo that sent them to us used packing peanuts and they got all up under the baffle.

Got most of my parts in, still waiting for the machine shop to finish my engine, but since I'm deep in my GTS right now, kinda don't have time to do anything on the Cressi yet.

Well, we got the 7mge out yesterday with the Automatic tranny, both of my motor mounts are trashed, my driveshaft's carrier bearing is dead, and I figured out what is wrong with my rear end, I need to replace the 2 PITA bushings on the rear of the diff. I will get pics either later today, or tomorrow depending on the weather.

Well I got pics of the hole, I guess Kyle's x8 had the same plugs....so I dunno. I did a little price checking today, new motor mounts = $65 EACH (2 needed), carrier bearing for DS = $120, rear diff bushings = $25 each (I picked up the pinion bushings awhile ago), so there's another $300 worth of Butt Bukkake, fucking bullshit!

well after dealing with being broke for the last 7 months or so, finally found some money and the 2jzge is HOME! Need to order some freezeplugs and then it's onto the build of it.

Also the Supra is coming along, 7mge and auto tranny is in, new dash harnesses are semi-in. Need to fab up some new tranny cooler lines (bought 12' of hose for this :-D). Should have it running in a week or two (I'm not gregg lol).

rawr, Supra is damn near done, and the Cressida project is back on track. Engine is completely assembled (minus serp belt and clutch fan, because putting engine in with fan = PITA). Should get my new ghettozone clutch tomorrow, then wait for new PP bolts, figure out how the R154 clutch assembly goes together, make sure tunnel is large enough for new tranny, and drop her in.

Well, progress is going like gang-busters here. Got my new clutch in the other day, got the pressure plate mounted to the tranny (if you've never messed with a Toyota R tranny, you are supposed to mount the pp to the tranny and then mate it to the engine, no bolting it to the flywheel then sticking tranny on), just waiting for the PP bolts to get in.

Power steering lines are done (yet another funtastic rust adventure removing the OEM high pressure line, tried using a normal wrench, slipped on the head, tried using a flare wrench, twisted on the head {cheapo autozone tools FTL}, cut the hardline to use a box wrench which didn't work and snapped my tubing cutter {another cheapo tool}, said screw it, used air chisel to chop hardline at the nut, then stuck breaker bar on and bounced on it {THAT worked}), new stainless steel high pressure line is on, shortened the low pressure line by swapping around parts. Power steering lines have to be changed due to 7m PS pump is on passenger side, 2JZ is on driver's.

Alternator wiring is prepped and ready to be joined once engine is in car, chopped down a GS300 alternator sub-harness which the engine seller was nice enough to include, so I have about 10 ft of wire for a 5 ft job.

Clutch line is hooked up, with plenty of slack to reach the slave.

Still trying to get the tranny tunnel bashed out to proper size, may swing by Menards tomorrow for a hammer tip for my air chisel to reduce the PITA that is beating a tunnel of reinforced steel with a 2lb sledge.

Hell, I might even get pics up of the progress before long. At current rate the engine/tranny should be in and awaiting final wire up within the next 2 weeks.

gave up on using the sledge to hammer the tunnel, went to NAPA and ordered a hammer tip for my air chisel :-D

I got on here to look at my engine pic, and figured I'd update the log.

Well got the engine in, spent a couple hours trying to get everything lined up and come to find out that yet again, the information on x8's are NOT always correct.

Was told when I got the car that all USDM Cressidas got the JZX crossmember (s2/kouki). Well as both myself and my friend Russel found out, this is complete crap. As you can see in the picture below, s1 mount points are spaced a little farther out due to being at a much more severe angle.
Image

Also come to find out the people who made my engine brackets got drunk before doing the intake side, as it's around an inch off of the JZX81 mounts it was copied from.

Sadly only one company makes anything to adapt S1 crossmember to S2 mounts (no one makes mounts for S1 xmembers), and they're back ordered for a freakin month!!!!! So the engine is coming back out (swapping engine brackets in bay = PITA).

maybe so, but until Greggo stops paying the bill, i have a pretty much clutter free place to keep tabs on my thoughts and my builds, so I can remember what's going on.
